3 Casual Games to Get You In The Mood For The Winter

Winter is upon us, with the ski season starting soon.

Thanksgiving is over, and we’ve survived Black Friday as well - it’s time to wait for enough snow to fall.

If you’re like us, you can hardly wait to put on your boots and hit the slopes.

These games will help you ease the wait.

But don’t forget to put on your gloves with touch screen fingers - these games are cooler than the average!

The “Alto” Saga

A Woman Playing a Video Game

Few games will get you into the mood like the two entries in the “Alto” saga, Alto’s Adventure and Alto’s Odyssey.

Although… you might want to play them carefully, because they may get you into the mood for some death-defying jumps and acrobatics on snowboards.

Technically, only the first entry is a snowboarding game - Alto's Adventure, released in 2015 - and the second, Odyssey, is a “sandboarding” game. But we’re taking casual games, so the surface on which you slide doesn’t matter.

Originally released on iOS, the first game made it to Android and a bunch of other platforms, too. Today, you can play both games on any device, from Kindle Fire to Chromecast with Google TV.

Ice Joker

Come to think of it, online slot games make the perfect winter games because you don’t have to interact too much with the screen to play them. You just tap a button, spin the reels, and wait for the win to come.

The perfect winter slot machine may be Ice Joker, a chiller released by Play’n GO in 2020. It’s the perfect casual game to get you into the mood, with snowy blue mountains in the background, and frozen fruits on its reels. While it doesn’t have anything to do with winter sports, its atmosphere will chill you to the bone. Unless, of course, you keep a mug of mulled wine - or hot chocolate - at hand.

Yeti Sensation

Some say if you played one endless running game, you’ve played them all. While this might very much be the case, we do think Yeti Sensation is worth checking out - especially if you’re in the mood for some crazy action in a snowy landscape.

The game is as simple as they come: a yeti is getting out of its cave, and running on a three-lane road filled with goodies to pick up and obstacles to avoid. There are, of course, powerups to collect, ditches to fall into, and the occasional bear trap in the middle of the road. Or yeti-traps, if you like.

Overall, Yeti Sensation is a fun game to play and has a snowy backdrop to get you into the mood, which makes it the perfect choice for a winter (hyper)casual game.

These three casual winter games are sure to amp up your excitement for the snowy season. Whether you're gliding down virtual slopes with Alto or running across a snowy landscape with Yeti Sensation, these games offer a cool escape while you wait for the real snow to fall. So, grab your touchscreen-friendly gloves and dive into the winter gaming fun!
